TOUR OVERVIEW

On this Full-day Private tour, you will tick off the two most popular tourist attractions of Rhodes. Sit back in our spacious & comfy Minibus while you tour through Rhodes countryside with a beautiful landscape of Weast and East coasts.

Rhodes is greener than you would have expected, and during Summer it is where the rare type of butterfly – Kalimorphos Panaxia Quatripunctaria or Jerseytiger moth gather in exceptionally great amounts. That puts the Butterfly Valley on top of the most visited nature attractions of Rhodes. It is an evergreen Oasis dotted with wooden bridges, waterfalls, and rustic paths weaving along the Pelekanos river – all that makes it into a wonderful experience.

Upon arrival, your driver will give you clear instructions about the meeting place, explain where is best to start exploring the canyon and give you a small map with information. You will then have plenty of free time to lose yourself in this green oasis!

After the hike, you can relax in the cooled vehicle while your driver takes you to the ultimate sightseeing destination – Lindos village where you are about to make new discoveries.

As you approach Lindos, your driver will make two stops to capture memorable moments at the scenic Lindos viewpoint and the famed St. Paul’s Bay that will surely impress you! After you will have enough free time to explore Lindos, your tour driver will provide a map with directions & information for your individual browsing.

And off you go! Lindos welcomes you with its cafes, shops, roof-top restaurants along with typical Cycladic homes, and noble Captains’ Mansions. Take advantage of your free time and walk up to the Acropolis to explore the ancient monument before you have the well-deserved icecream or treat yourself with a nice lunch in one of many cozy roof-top restaurants.

At the conclusion of your visit, your driver will meet you and take you back to your accommodation in no time.

Itinerary

Pickup from your Accommodation/ Cruise Ship

• Drive to Butterfly Valley along the West Coast of Rhodes Island – approx. 30-50 min

– Enjoy a relaxing drive through Rhodes countryside with a beautiful landscape full of olive, cypress, pomegranate, and citrus fruit trees

– On the way, see the local villages of Damatria, Pastida, Kremasti, and Paradisi

• Free time in the Butterfly Valley for your Individual browsing – approx. 1h 15 min
  

– Starting with the upper part of the Valley, walk along the little pond and waterfalls, enjoying the romantic scene

– Start noticing butterflies on tree trunks, leaves, and rocks

– On the way, take a little rest reading informative boards about the life cycle of the butterflies and other interesting stories

– Walk all the way up to a little Monastery to capture a memorable Panoramic View of the West Coast

– Then walk all the way to the bottom part of the Valley to visit the Museum of Natural History and learn about endemic and rare species in Rhodes

• Free time in Lindos village for your Individual browsing – approx. 2-2.5 hours 

– Stroll through the village with its winding narrow streets dotted with little boutiques, cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops

– Wander around and try to find impressive Captains’ Mansions and little Byzantine chapels between whitewashed traditional Lindian homes

– Visit the most important archaeological site of Rhodes – the Acropolis of Lindos, home to the Temple of Athena Lindia

– If climbing the steps to the mountaintop is not in your plans, then the best way to soak up the Lindos vibe is to have a nice lunch in a roof-top restaurant or cafe offering an unforgettable view

Good to Know

PICK-UP

The pick-up is scheduled for 09:30 am. Pick-up a little sooner or later is also possible, so please let us know if you prefer to start the tour at a different time.

TOUR DELIVERY

The tour is delivered by a tour-driver, who provides general and practical information inside the tour vehicle. Maps with directions & historical information are provided for individual browsing.

Should you prefer to be accompanied by a tour guide to receive professional insight from a qualified local expert and be guided through the sites, please contact us in advance for a price quote.

EXTRA EXPENSES

Entry ticket to the Butterfly Valley:

– Low season (May, October) – 3 EUR p.p. Children under 12 years – free.

– High Season (June-September) – 5 EUR p.p. Children under 12 years – free.

Butterfly Train (optional) – 4.5 Eur per person, children under 12 years – free.

If you plan to visit the Acropolis of Lindos, the entry fee is 12 EUR p.p. Children under 18 years – free. EU Students & Seniors – 50% discount.

Light Lunch options can be found in Lindos village with a big variety of snack bars & restaurants. Typically, sandwiches/ pitta wraps are approx. 3 EUR, salads 5-10 EUR, meal 7-20 EUR.

In Lindos village, for senior guests & guests with special needs, there is a possibility to get on a public shuttle bus to get to the main square of Lindos – 0.5 EUR/ one way.

Public WC – 0.5 EUR.

An extra charge 20-50 EUR (depending on the location) is applied if the pick-up is from other resorts than Ialyssos, Ixia, Rhodes Town, and Kallithea.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY – 2/ 3

Walking over periods of more than 20 minutes includes uneven surfaces, unpaved trails, cobblestone surfaces. Travelers must be able to step in and out of the tour vehicle (our coaches are equipped with a power step).

If you choose to climb to the Acropolis in Lindos, it includes inclines, narrow walkways, and a long flight of stairs to reach the castle which does not have a handrail.

If you have reduced mobility or special needs, please contact us before booking. We will advise you of the best option to make everyone feel comfortable!

CLOTHING

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, sensible walking shoes. In spring (April-May) and autumn (Mid September-November) a light jacket is recommended as it can be windy. During summer (June-September) do not forget your hat or a light wrapping, and sunglasses. Make sure to carry with you a bottle of water at all times! Always wear your sunscreen!

TOUR VEHICLE

The tour vehicle is our brand new Mercedes Benz Limo Minibus with 11 seats. According to Covid-19 prevention restrictions, we can accommodate up to 7 passengers. The Minibus has spacious soft leather seats, A/C, step stool for easy boarding, USB plugs, Mini-fridge, the onboard entertainment system.
